SENTIR bumper Contact bumper for cobots. Safety bumpers are tactile protective devices for securing pinch and shear points on moving systems. They are used wherever greater deformation paths are required, for example on machines, driverless transport systems (AGVs), transport vehicles, high-bay warehouses, hangar doors or other freely moving systems. They provide reliable protection for people, vehicles and materials. When an obstacle is encountered, the bumper’s short response time immediately triggers a control command to stop the dangerous movement. The integrated safety contact edge is activated when compressed and transmits the signal to the evaluation electronics, which immediately stops all movements. The safety bumper consists of an energy-absorbing foam core connected to a sturdy aluminium support profile. The outer covering made of durable synthetic leather or NBR rubber provides reliable protection against mechanical damage, moisture and environmental influences. The combination of a soft core and a defined trigger force means that only a low pressure load is required for activation, while at the same time enabling a long braking and coasting distance. By selecting suitable dimensions and designs, safety bumpers can be optimally adapted to different vehicle and system concepts and ensure safe and standard-compliant stopping even with inert systems.
