The aviation industry faces the challenge of reliably protecting sensitive components and materials from damage – especially when loading and unloading aircraft. Ground Support Equipment
In order to meet the increasing demands for safety and efficiency in ground-based aviation operations, ASO has developed an innovative anti-collision system – a flexible retrofit solution for almost all types of ground support equipment (GSE). The system has a modular design and combines tactile and contactless sensor technology. It not only meets the highest technical standards, but also complies with the latest IATA recommendations for preventing damage to aircraft caused by ground vehicles.
At the heart of the system are pressure-sensitive SENTIR safety contact bumpers, which react as soon as a GSE vehicle makes physical contact with an aircraft. They immediately trigger a signal that directly intervenes in the vehicle control system – for example, to activate the emergency shutdown or braking process. This not only cushions the impact, but also controls the remaining braking distance to reliably prevent damage to the aircraft.
Aircraft maintenance
Automated mobile maintenance platforms, frames and scissor lifts must be equipped with safety sensors, as must ground support equipment. SENTIR safety contact bumpers and edges ensure safe and damage-free approach to the aircraft. Contact with the soft surface of an active safety contact edge or contact bumper triggers an electrical stop and a possible reversal of the maintenance device. The remaining overrun distance of the SENTIR safety contact edge or bumper dampens the momentum of the maintenance vehicle, thus preventing damage to the aircraft. Our SENTIR safety contact mats also enable presence detection on hoists and other vehicles.
